Lighter and More Compact: The bike is two kilograms lighter than its predecessor (117 kg wet) and features a more compact design, including narrower shrouds (50mm slimmer), a flatter seat with rounded edges, and a lower center of gravity. These changes enhance rider movement, agility, and control, especially in technical terrain.

Revised Engine: The 450cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4-stroke engine is new, more compact, and lighter (1.1kg shaved off the engine alone). It features larger intake valves, new piston, crankshaft, and balancer assembly, and adopts a dry sump lubrication system. The ECU settings are specifically tailored for enduro use, providing excellent tractability at low speeds and strong power delivery through the mid to high range.

Optimized Chassis: It utilizes a new Controlled Fill aluminium bilateral beam frame, based on the YZ450F, but with WR450F-specific engine mounts for optimal flex characteristics. The frame is lower at the head tube, contributing to the lower center of gravity and improved handling.

Advanced Suspension: It comes equipped with industry-leading KYB Speed Sensitive System (SSS) 48mm coil-spring forks and a KYB rear shock, both fully adjustable. Notably, the front forks now feature tool-less compression damping adjustment for easy on-the-fly tuning. The suspension settings are softer and more plush than the MX version, ideal for enduro riding.

Enhanced Electronics: The free Yamaha Power Tuner App has been upgraded, allowing riders to easily adjust air/fuel mixture, ignition timing, and even traction control settings via their smartphone. A new handlebar-mounted multi-function switch also enables quick selection between two preloaded engine maps.

Improved Drivetrain: It features a lighter and more compact clutch with a lighter pull, and a revised wide-ratio five-speed gearbox with wider main shaft gears for increased strength and reduced weight, specifically designed for enduro conditions.

Australian Specifics: The 2024 WR450F comes with full ADR (Australian Design Rules) compliance, meaning it can be road registered. It also includes a free off-road kit for closed-course competition use, which contains various components like an LED tail light, braided steel front brake line, handguards, and more.

High-Performance Braking: Strong stopping power is provided by a 270mm front disc and 240mm rear disc, coupled with high-performance Nissin calipers.
