The Heart: 998cc CP4 Engine
At the core of the MT-10 SP is the 998cc Crossplane 4 (CP4) engine. For 2022, it was refined to meet Euro 5 emissions while actually gaining power.
Performance: It produces approximately 164 hp and 83 lb-ft of torque.
The Soundtrack: Yamaha engineers tuned the intake and exhaust to amplify the engine's unique firing order. New Acoustic Amplifier Grilles on the tank direct the "intake roar" straight to the rider.
Key SP Upgrades
The "SP" designation separates this model from the standard MT-10 with several premium features:
Gen-2 Öhlins Semi-Active Suspension: This was the first production bike to feature Öhlins’ new "spool valve" technology. It offers six modes (three semi-active and three manual), allowing the bike to adjust damping automatically based on road conditions.
Braided Brake Lines: Unlike the standard model, the SP comes with steel-braided lines for more consistent braking feel and performance.
Exclusive Styling: It features a dedicated "Liquid Metal/Raven" color scheme inspired by the R1M, a polished aluminum swingarm, and a three-piece lower belly cowl.
Tech & Electronics
The 2022 model saw a major leap in electronics, centered around a new 6-axis IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit).
Rider Aids: This enables lean-sensitive traction control, slide control, wheelie control, and cornering ABS.
Display: A new 4.2-inch full-color TFT display replaced the previous monochromatic unit.
Standard Features: Up/down quickshifter, cruise control, and a variable speed limiter come standard.
