The 2006 Honda ST1300 ABS is a sport-touring motorcycle known for its powerful performance, long-distance comfort, and legendary Honda reliability. It is a refinement of the ST1300 platform, which was introduced in 2002 as a replacement for the long-running ST1100.
Engine and Performance:
The heart of the ST1300 is a liquid-cooled, 1261cc, longitudinal 90-degree V4 engine. This engine delivers smooth, effortless power and a broad torque curve, making it ideal for both highway cruising and spirited riding on twisty roads. It features electronic fuel injection (PGM-FI) and a quiet, low-maintenance shaft drive. The five-speed transmission and hydraulically operated clutch provide a smooth and predictable ride.
Touring Features and Comfort:
As a sport-tourer, the ST1300 is equipped for long journeys. It has a full-coverage fairing that provides excellent wind and weather protection. The ABS model comes with an electrically adjustable windscreen, a highly-praised feature that allows riders to change wind protection on the fly. The bike also has integrated, lockable, and detachable saddlebags with a 35-liter capacity each, offering ample storage. The seat is a comfortable, dual-density design with three-position adjustability.
Braking and Handling:
The "ABS" in the model name signifies a crucial safety feature: an Anti-Lock Braking System. This works in conjunction with Honda's Combined Brake System (CBS) to provide confident and controlled stopping power in a wide range of conditions.
